ART happens – nordic artist-run initiatives. We have invited five artist-run spaces, one from each Nordic country, to present themselves and the artists behind. KUTEN (Finland) is a non-profit association based in Helsinki, founded in 2002 to promote and generate visual culture. Galleri 69 (Norway), based in Oslo, represented by Cathrine Constanse and Øivin Horvei, will be showing mechanical objects that produce art. Spanien19C (Denmark) established in Aarhus 1998, is run by Katja Bjørn Jakobsen and Kim T. Grønborg, and will be showing a portable foldout installation. 700IS Hreindyraland (Iceland) is an organisation focused on video art. For ART happens Kristin Scheving, director, has made a selection of icelandic video artists; Sara Gunnarsdóttir, Kristinn Gudmundsson, Tóra Sólveig Bergsteinsdóttir, Torbjörg Jónsdóttir, Óskar Ericsson, Áslaug Einarsdóttir and María Dal. Candyland (Sweden) is an exhibition space in Stockholm since February 2004. It is run by ten people who take turns in producing exhibitions. Candyland will be showing the project Earth Hour Mobile 2010 and material from Candytour. Formverk (art zone) will also show a new photo project by Stina Pehrsdotter and Niclas Hallberg, in an outdoor construction. The city of Eskilstuna, Sweden, starts to profile itself as a center for Nordic contemporary art. Links |
